Plant Growth Energizer Turf Formula, a unique combination of North Atlantic seaweed concentrate and humic acid especially designed for use on turfgrass
Why seaweed for turf?
The chemistry of seaweed (ascophyllum nodosum) is complex. It has a high content of organic carbon – particularly carbohydrates such as alginic acid, laminaran and mannitol – but is very low in NPK. This makes seaweed an excellent, highly flexible addition to a turf nutritional program.
North Atlantic seaweed, as used in Seaweed Max, has by far the highest concentrations of the key cytokinin and auxin plant hormones of any seaweed processed worldwide, and is well known for its high trace-mineral content and the presence of a range of biologically active, growth-promoting substances.
Seaweed Max releases locked-up soil nutrients and improves drought and disease resistance. Seaweed Max promotes early-season root growth and enhances the establishment of overseeding by stimulating photosynthesis and increasing microbial activity.
Seaweed Max
- Stimulates root growth
- Enhances new root and shoot formation
- Improves uptake of nutrients into both roots and leaves
- Increases resistance to disease and pests

What are Seaweed Max’s growth promoters, and how do they work for turf management?
Cytokinins are a class of plant hormones that promote cell differentiation and a wide range of physiological processes, while auxins are phytohormones essential for cell division and expansion, and coordinate growth and behavioral processes in the plant lifecycle. These naturally occurring compounds are co-dependent, working together to promote:
- Stress resistance
- Cell division and growth
- Cell differentiation (shoot, root, or flower initiation)
- Root growth and uniform flowering
- Enhancement of uptake across living membranes
The humates in Seaweed Max also contain an auxin-like growth hormone that improves germination and early seedling development. Humates increase soil-particle aggregation as well, providing better soil aeration and workability, increasing water-holding capacity, and making soils more drought resistant.
Recommended Application Rate: 45-90 ml/100m2 per month during the growing season
